Thousands gather in Hyde Park, Leeds, to hear Jeremy Corbyn speak – photo Iain Dalton

In his third visit to Leeds in a week, around 2,000 people attended a rally with Jeremy Corbyn in the Hyde Park area of Leeds outside a social club at short notice tonight.

Ben Mayor, Leeds Socialist Party

Corbyn, speaking a top of a bench to the crowd that had amassed from immediately around him, through to the social club car park, down the roads, up the banks of a local park and up trees, galvanised the predominantly young audience with a sense of electric enthusiasm.

The mood was clear and popularity for an alternative was there. What ever happens at the election, that mood and that atmosphere isn’t going away. Labour Party members and Corbyn supporters agreed with Socialist Party members on this as many stayed afterwards to discuss amongst their peers in the streets.
