Amongst the older strikers, the phrase that was often to be heard was “Never did I think I would be striking again”. For some of the individuals who made their way to the pickets around the University of Leeds, Leeds Metropolitan University and Leeds College of Art early on Thursday morning, it was several decades since they had participated in a day of strike action.
