Today, members of the Communication Workers Union (CWU) at Crown Post Offices walked out of work 2.30pm on strike against plans to close or privatise offices as well as an ongoing pay freeze.

The strike was well supported at the St Johns Centre crown post office, closing the office for the rest of the day, with a well attended picket line outside where union members gave out leaflets to the passing public. Several trade unionists and other activists came down to give support including from FBU and Unison.
Although Post Office management had agreed to talks between the previous well supported strike (see https://leedssocialistparty.wordpress.com/2013/03/30/post-office-workers-strike-against-closures-and-pay-freeze/), no new offer was made and therefore the union has taken todays action.
